yes, you can start giving him packet milk (which i assume cows milk, pasteurizd and is of good quality)..
go slow, see and respect his acceptance,,thn only go ahead,,or else stay where you are !
and yes cows milk is not recmnded before 1 year age,,because there have been cases where the babies did NOT show acceptance and in longer run had probs with thr digestn and such other allergy related probs,,,
in india also, when the cows milk is given as a replacement of breastmilk directly,,there have been cases where the goats milk or sheep milk was replaced because babies were not comfortable with cows milk...it is still practisd,,in my village itself ! and surprisng it sounds,,but yes after 1 year,,the same kids were able to drink cows milk directly (sometimes it wasnt even boiled,,in village, they have the cows milk sold directly),,but until 1 year, they were on goats milk !! formula and such alternatives are not available there,,but they eat pure things there,,all the vegies, fruits grown are directly from farms, fresh and no storage is required,,which al together ensures good health !!!
so hp this clears the confusion...
and yes like everyone said,,start our indian food,,its high time for you..our indian food has everything,if cooked with all vegies and fruits, meats and such things,,your child is 10months,,so best time to start it !

always remember, whenever you introduce new foods, which includes milk or formula,,always check your child acceptance to it and respect it...try after sometimes if he seems to be uncomfortable..and always look for alternatives before you start new food so that if your child is not able to accept the same food,,you are ready with alternatives !
never compromise on what your child needs when better alternatives are available !!! at the same time, make sure that you introduce your baby with all foods around you,,after all you dont want him to be a picky eater !!!
good luck to you,,and hope this clears the things !

Hi ,

How about starting home cooked food ? My baby too doesn't like baby cereals anymore. You could try making khichdi or some of the other foods posted by Hetal on this webiste.
