an replied. hello rekha,
you will certainly get fresh milk in bangalore. in some areas they bring the cow near ur house & u can get fresh milk. but as others hv said 7 mts is too early to start anyother milk than bm or formula. pls wait till ur baby is atleast 10 mts to start nandini milk or fresh milk. good luck.
Hetal replied. babies before 10months to 1 year,,dont need or let me say,,are not ready for ne milk except breastmilk or iron fortified formula....irrespective of place or country you live.
your baby apetite is not ready for high proteins and fat levels,,in outside whole milk/skimmed milk at 7months.thats y we introduce protein foods and high fat dairies like cheese, whole milk yogurt,, after baby completes 8months !!
though many cultures follow the practice but not all babies are ready for it ! thats just what has happend to your baby...
stop the milk right now and instead bf or offer bm or give the formula..
its too early for your baby or you to start weaning to cows milk or whole milk or even skimmed milk..he wont get enough iron as well that his body needs from it !!!
you are offerng your baby things made of outside milk,,that qty is acceptable after 6montths,,but not more is required or would be inappropriate,,so outside milk should not be the sole nutrient for any baby ne baby before 10months - 1 year.
so good luck...stop the milk and see how it works,,if the vomtng is continued even after your stopd 1-2 feeds of milk,,he needs to be seen by your dr immediately..meanwhile make sure your baby drinks good water to keep him well hydrated...
before you reach your dr, check for ne temperature if at all your baby is having !!!!
parul replied. Thats right, in indian families elders suggest starting cow/buffalo milk used in home for the baby around this age.
It seems your baby is not able to accept/digest the nandini milk. (m not in bangalore so donno much about nandini milk)...Are you trying out with the lightest variety they have (also called as double-tonned)? How did u start it, did u mix it with water?
I wd say stop the milk for now, wait for a week or so... then if the baby is settled back and fine, try start with little milk mixed with boiled and cooled water. Check by giving him 2-3 spoons or so in a day. Give it lukewarm, without sugar.
If baby digests it, try little more next day. If not, then this is not the right time to give that milk to baby.
Ideally, cow's milk is the best to start for babies. Not sure if nandini is pure cow milk or mixed with buffalo. If u get any good quality brand cow milk (like nandini) then try it.
Even taking milk from doodhwala is not suggested these days... they are not trustworthy, u dont know if their cows are healthy.
Another good idea wd be to check with your paediatrician since she wd be having good idea about locally sold milks and your baby's health.
I maintain a list of Qs and ask it to the pediatrician on my next visit.
hope this helps.
parul replied. How old is the baby? What is the primary reason you want to give him packet milk?
First of all, stop giving that milk to the baby. If the baby is vomitting it, means there is some problem that needs to be addressed first.
