Not drinking enough milk. sucks only for 5 mins every feed once in 2 hrs. But he wets more than 6 diapers in 24 hrs..Is this normal?? Is my baby having his feed properly? What could I do to increase his feed time?
Thanks for your suggestions

i just happened to see that u had posted a qry when ur baby was 8 weeks old.

u hv mentioned there that ur right breast is heavy, baby gulps ..

see that shows ur milk flow is good and probably thats why baby is full soon, in mins.
however, this is my guess, if baby is happy/sleeping peacefully and doesnt wake up crying for feed/wt gain is fine... then dont worry.

if baby coughs while feeding due to fast flow, stop feeding, hold upright on shoulder and gently tap the back. If this is happening too freqyently, m not sure what can be done, may be u ask ur doc.

regarding your vomitting question, its normal to 'vomit' like that. U dont need to worry this is called \" gently spitting\" curd like milk, even if it is many times a day dont worry.

This is reflux, common in babies

if u see baby 'Vomitting', which means curd like substabce seems to be thrown out of mouth, and it is more than once a day, pls consult doctor. When this happens, it generally comes in large quantity than spitting.

all the best

By \" 5 mins\" , i m assuming u mean to say \" less time than expected\" .

When milk flow is good, and for a baby at this small age, it is quite possible that baby breastfeeds for little while and leaves. Breast milk flow generally gets well established by this time.
This has happened with me when my baby was 2m (now she is 6m).

I used to feel the same but then the doc checked weight increment twice a week and checked my milk flow as well and concluded that the milk supply was good so the baby was full in minutes.

So one suggestion is ask the doc and ensure that baby is fine.

Regarding wet diapers: yes they say 6 diapers a day but i dont think that can be considered as THE criteria to conclude
.... my baby's weight was constant for last 1 month, but she used to make many many more wet diapers in a day. Hetal suggested correction in babys diet and i saw her gain wt now.
