Feeding:Will the taste of milk change?
2006-11-18
Name: M&M

My baby was born on 25th of Aug. I have been freezing BM since mid of September. Now that I am returning to work, I tried to give him the milk which was initially pumped, he doesn't like it. He has been spitting it out. Initially I thought that, he doesn't like the bottle. But, later in the day when I gave him freshly pumped milk, he drank it fine.
I warmed the milk to room temperature. Did the taste of the milk change? Is it why he is not drinking it? Should I try the milk which was stored in October?

You wont believe I had the same problem,my son would not take any frozen milk either but would drink the freshly pumped one. Infact if the milk is more than a day old,he spits it out. So I dont know,...but I think may be the taste does change, otherwise how would they know and behave differently. After I realized this, I threw away all my stored milk and started storing only for a day. It coule be the way we are heating or soemthing, but even my lactation consultant could not help. I even made her come home and check.

Experiment with a day old milk and start there so you can figure it out. Dont loose heart. Good luck
