Hetal replied. Hi there,
sry for late reply, couldnt get a chance to login.
at 3months, a healthy baby is expected to drink approx of :
5–6 feedings or on demand of BM or breastfeeding //// 5–6 feedings of 4–7 ounces each...
wat is her birthwght ?? without that i wont be able to think much on why are you concerned about her wght issue.
if your dr is saying that dont force,,i would like to say that he consider your baby wght quite ok,,and from 3months onwards,,you cant expect your baby to complete feeds,,,there are many reasons associated with it,,but as of now,,as far as your dr doesnt show the worries regarding your baby wght, i will also recmnd you to respect your baby apetite.
please understand that babies apetite varies as he matures,,but it doesnt mean that it has to increase..
what makes you think he is not healthy ? is he not developng good in his milestones ? or is laggng behind ? if so, thn he is not healthy and needs to be checked by your dr.
you cant expect your baby to increase his apetite,,as and when he matures to later stage,,now he is baby and no more infant,,his body is preparng him for solids as well, teething is another issue that starts as early as 2-3months,,so check his gums,,hard, swoln or redish,,he needs some soothng gel or teethng gel,,
good luck to you.,if your dr is ok with your baby developemnt,,you should not be concerned,,i understand a mother feels insecured and wants her baby to feed well all the time,,but disrespecting your baby apetite and acceptance is no good !
good luck

check total intake in 24 hours, instead of per feed..
as far as her total intake in and around 20oz,24oz-30oz-42oz,,there should not be ne problem..this is just a range to give you an idea about the intake...in total 24oz.
if your dr says that he is developing well, there is no concern.
about soy formula, you can give it a try, but ask your dr about it first.
if your baby apetite is low,it will be low irrespecitve of ne formula or even bm ! however,if the formula is making her feel heavy and if thats the reason of her less intake,,there is possibility that she will increase her intake,..but you will be compromising on her lactose deficncy,,even though she has enough tolerance to it.
unless otherwise her intake has decreased, only after she was started on formula ! if so, yes she needs soy formula,,as milk based formula seems to be heavy for her.
right now its too early for you to make food interesting, unless otherwise your dr has asked to start her on solids,,because of less apetite of liquid diet !
ask your dr about solids and ask him whether she needs to start something like whole moong water,,and see what he says,,dont say that you want to start solids,,ask him whether your child needs to starts on to solids.
respect your baby apetite,,and unless and until your dr sees the laggng behind in her growth, wght or ne such aspects,,your concersn about her feedings should not stand first !
for me,,with 5.10 LBS(COULDNT FIND THE TERM,,considering it as lbs) as birthwght, and at 3months,,his current wght 10.5 is just right.so i would say, respect his apetite, and ask your dr about the above !
good luck to you.

Thanks so much Hetal. My baby was 5.10 when he was born.He is on formula since one and half month.as i could not express milk,he was on Bm and formula till one and half month and from then he is completely on formula. My Ped said he is developing well and is growing at a good pace.I am worried abt the quantity of milk he drinks. He doesnt have much.I feel he must atleast have 3-4 oz per feeding.but he hardly has 1-2 sometimes.very few times he drinks 3 oz max. Will he drink well if i give him some other milk like Soy milk?Is there any way i can make his Food interesting for him?Kindly advise.Thankyou so much.
