my 4mnth old baby is formula fed. he usually drinks around 18ounces of milk but for the past 3days, he's drinking only 13ounces of milk. i'm getting worried about this. also, he's completing 4th month in a week. i'm planning to give him semi solid foods. what can i start with

manu Hetal replied. his intake at 4months should be around or approx 5–6 feedings of 4–7 ounces each of iron fortified formula or bm.
see his formula intake for one more day, and still he continues to loose his apetite,,check with your dr..
4months old baby is not worth a wait when it comes to sudden loss of apetite..however, the difference here seen as of now is of 5oz only,,so considering that,,its fine, if he continues being on 13oz of milk,,however, if he decreases his intake further,,rush him to dr.
avoid solids if your dr has not recmnd it...whats his birthwght and current wght,,,ask your dr if your baby NEEDS solids instead of asking WHEN YOU CAN start solids...
its better for his health if you start solids at 6months onwards, unless otherwise his health or wght shows wght loss and nutritional deficncy...
check on his bowels, feeding schedules, ne temperatures,,try givng a gentle pressure around his naval and see if he feels ne discomfort,,,check for bowel consistency and colour,,and dont wait for more than 1-2 days, when it comes to babies below 6montths...
