Bowel and Bladder Movements:Re:Mommy & gg / bowel and bladder freq & colours

Name: Hetal

tis normal for babies below 1yearr to show colour of vegies that are :
orange/deep orange.
green colour vegies.
deep red/beets etc.
ne sticky vegetable like okra, brinjal etc gives mucus in stools, expect that.avoid that before 1year.
deep yellow/or excess turmeric in diet !

some kids also have shown colour variatns with fruits like strawberries/berries,papaya,plums and mango !

unless otherwise his stools are extremly smelly,,has mucus or has irregular bowel all of sudden,,there are no worries involved,,,a child eating well all of his meals is expected to pass around 3 bowels in a day, or let me just say,,most of the times, no of meals will be directly proportionate to the no of bowels,,or will be one less thn the result of prop,,,after or before ne meals !
a bowel that is atleast once a day for ne human is a sign of good health !
a bowel that is not passed for more than 3days,,needs attention//needs to add lots of fiber or juices or prunes and liquids

a bowel that is not passed for more than 4-5days,,is constipation ! needs dr attention/medication .

a bowel that is passed for more than 5times in a day, with child unexplained fussines and loss of apetite could be looose motions,,and more than 5times is sign of diareaaaaaaa,,,,,

expect your child to pass on pee/bladder freq almost every 1hour or so,,atleast before 1 year,,,it all dpends on his liquid intake..ensure good liquid intake apart from formula/bm before 1 year so that he remains well hydrated..the more the no of bladder, the healthier is body,,,but ofcourse,,dont consider extremly high freq with heavily wet diapers,,like more than 10times,,,in an hour !

after 1 year the freq is less and is individual dpending on child liquid intake and health conditions.

just limit the intake of that vegetable or fruit,,,offer lots of fluids,,,and it will stop in 24hours,,if it does not,,make sure to talk about it to your dr !

when it comes to colours like yellowish or redish,,make sure to cross check it twice in sunlight(not the yellow light bulbs) to ensure that its the vegie or fruit colour that is seen in colour or is sign of jaundice or blood !

ne other discomfort watsoever while passng bowels or ne skin rashes in diaper area,,ne colour for more than 24hours after the intake of ne food,,,,,should be your concern and an appt with your dr should be made at once !

hope this helps !

Hetal noticed this in your post \" unless otherwise his stools are extremly smelly,,has mucus or has irregular bowel all of sudden,,there are no worries \"

What do smelly stools indicate, my 5 month old daugetrs stools have turned extremly smelly since I started semi solids a couple of weeks back. Thought this was normal.. Do I need to be concerned ?

at introduction of meats,or solids, its quite expected that stools are smelly, the consistency changes and they are more of pasty and some are dry stools ! also goes the same with introduction of dairy, products, wheat and other hard grains..
hope this suffices,,check your child expersns while he passes the stools,,if he seems to be comfortable, its ok,,if not,,try to reduce the amt, increase the activity level when all of the above is started,,give him enough exercises and offer a sep serving of fluid/diluted juices before 12months,,and such can be avoided,,also avoid offerng strong flavours like onion, garlic pwder or ginger pwder,,,,it might affect stool smell !!
also,,keep an eye on baby wght as you introduce solids.if still the same, thn its likely that your child is not gettn ne benefits from solids and its all going out without digestion !
offering solids, esp during the first month of introduction during the daytime, esp the mornings do help to some extent in reducng the smells !

expect adult like stools as and when your child graduates to other foods !

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
