My son lies a lot.He lies on every small pretext and when caught he says I did not do it.Iam very depressed please help Every time he promises by writing on a paper and says henceforth I will not do it ,its been 3-4 yrs he is doing this.I have a negative atmosphere at home very incordial relations with my inlaws.Iam helpless. A replied. Since u know the atmosphere in ur house is not conducive, its very likely that he has seen others lie to family members. Old family members must be aware of a growing up child in the house whenever they have arguments or worries and issues. Kids pay lot of attention to these and quickly make their own conclusions. Even if they see an elder person lying and getting away with the situation easily kids will follow these practices....
If u see ur child having witnessed any such incidents do talk to ur child little about it and how u think u cud have handled the situations. I dont mean to say u tell a small child all household fights in depth..but talk to him about it in a light sense and tell him that its due to grandpa' s bad mood that time that he yelled, or father was busy and he forgot to do a certain thing and hence this issue...etc....And that we need to be there for one another and not lie to family members.
We should support each other and be kind. Tell him simple stories, he will definitely open up and start a conversation with u, next time even if he lies he will muster courage to tell u about it. Be friendly to the child and show him that be whatever the case we should stick to true and good values no matter how hard it is. Whenever possible show him everytime how speaking correct and truth does help.
