Bowel and Bladder Movements:update for Hetal

Hi Hetal,

I had posted a message a few days back regarding my son's bowel movements containing a little mucus in them. As you suggested, I visited his pediatrician with one of his dirty diapers and the doc said that the amount of mucus present was normal and that I should not worry because there was no blood in it and he was gaining weight very well. So, now what do you think about the mucus? I am relieved after visiting the pediatrician, but still wondering what is causing the mucus.
Another thing I wanted to ask you is, my son who is now 8 weeks old is sweating moderately from his head when I am breastfeeding him. I live in a very cool part of US and it is winter now, but even then he sweats a little. I can feel that his hair is a little damp during feeding. Iam not over dressing him also. I just put him on his onesies during the day and temperature inside the house is around 75 deg F. Do u think this little sweating is ok??? Please reply.

Thanks so much for your time !
Regards
Anu

since your has seen the quantity of mucus and quality of mucus,,with naked eyes,,he knows it well !
like i said earlier,,appearance and quality will decide the case,,thats y i asked you to take the diaper to your doc.
about mucus,,therre are many reasons which i already pointed out,,if your dr seems to be quite confident about it,,i will not worry as wel...
it could be sign of constipation, or unabsorbed protein curds by formula(if so, your baby should be passng smelly gas,,which i didnt read newhere,,,so will eliminate this) or ne dairy intakes that you might have taken..and soemtimes mild cold, also causes this...keep him cold free and it should help...
i wont be worried only because your dr has seen the stool and i would like to rely on naked eye examination !
but after all, i want you to keep an eye on qty and quality of mucus, almost at every diaper change,,,just to be on safe side,,you have seen wat qty or quality your dr says is normal,,so consider that...and ne change,,please make a visit to your dr at once !
sweatng on forehead, all is normal during breastfeeding,,its because of your body heat and babies tend to get lots of warmth from it,,make him wear single onesis or light clothes while feeding esp 100% cottons,,since you are in US, gerber onesis the white simple thin onesies are great for breatfeeding and inner wears and you yourself wear light clothes as possble,,,and changge your baby diaper,,clothes after breastfeedng or before it...my baby used to get tensed while feeding, and it made her sweat,,i would give her a light masage on her legs, and lil feather touch on her back,,like relaxing touch and would open her fist and hold her hands,,she stopped sweating after that,,,see if your baby is sweatng because of ne anxty or in hurry to finish to feed...
some babies do that and come to that stage, when they are badly hungry,,so t hey get overwhelmd during breastfeedng session,,and the amt of energy released from thr body is higher thn the amt of energy they utilize,,and they sweat,,,try to feed him 5min prior to his feeding schedule and see if that helps....
jsut make sure that after breastfeedng, your baby does not get chills or shivers,,change his diapers and clothes before feedng and clothes if are wet with sweatng thn after feedng,,
i liked the nursing bibs,,wherein you can remove your tops and wear them,,,they are very comfortable in nursing and i would personally recmnd it,they have net on the top which allows enough air to circulate,,,,you can also put room fan onn(at the lowest speed) to make sure the air is circulating..
thats all i can think of...

good luck and have a nice time.

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
