Hi Hetal and all ,

I make khichdi with rice,dal and lots of veggies. I boil it and then blend in blender and then i give it with cud in afternoon and ghee at night. I use it like half in faternoon and keep rest in airtight container for his dinner .
I wanted to know if giving rice twice is fine. He is 13 months now and eats almost everything. He cant take lumpy stuff so i have to blend it . I wanted to know if i want to give him chappati ..how much should be enough for him. I want to make sure he is full at night.
Hetal can you also give me receipe to make pasta for him.

if its tiring for you, is its fine..otherwise, giving same type of food everyday is like compromising alot on baby health....

now that your baby is 13months, he is ready for wheat bran nd wheat germ..these are available in most of the green markets or prob even walmart,,if at all your baby is comfortable with wheat or the flour we eat,,,he should be fine with these,,,just add in tablespoon to his khichadi,,so that atleast you are giving him a serving of wheat with it,,
also adding tofu or even pastas to your khichadi is good to give...
also, offer first roti soaked in dal and only if he has not shown ne aversion to it,,then only go for these,,,these have high fibre and high proteins and its not good for toddlers who were sensitive to wheat proteins !! so be careful...
offering moongdal and cracked wheat khichdi is also a good options and just below your post there are various post on diet plans,,please go thru it,,you might find out great recipes by diff moms,,other than mine ! appreciate the interest and efforts in recipes for your babies and toddlers !!
for 13months old, 1/4th roti soaked in dal(regular toor dal that we eat),,is well accepted...give this in the lunch time,,see how he likes and then you can always switch the recipes from lunch to dinner by playing with textures,flavours and throwing in some vegies,,,add in vegies to your dal itself,,and you can also put some rice in the same dal wherein roti is soaked,,your baby might not notice the roti differntly !!as he is used to rice,dal and vegies(khicdi),,,or add in a pieces of roti with the curd,,mash it fine with hand,,it will get soft and offer with khichadi,,see how he takes it ! he is eating the full meal but in diff form !! thats just the key to it.
pastas are great fillers at nights,,you can offer a variety of them...

this has the recipe,let me know if you have ne questions,,,throw in tofu,your baby fav meat,or just boiled n then scrambled eggss, if at all you are eating..

other varieties of pastas are raviolis,,these come in stuffed with cheese,spinach,meats and other varieties of sea foods if you are eating,,,,and make it the same way mentioned above,,,, comes out great,,give a good sauce to it,,as these being stuffed,,when chewed or mashed becomes dry and baby might not like it plain,,a good tomato sauce tht has all the vegies(boiled/mashed/chopped),,whatever your baby prefers the textures...is a complete meal !!

pastas come in rice, wheat and wholegrains,multigrains so give them a try,,and try out diff combinations,,,
