Hi,

I wanted to know what are the diff types of cheese's available in dubai which i can feed my daughter. She is 1 yr old. I used to feed her kraft american cheese slices which she used to like very much. After coming to dubai i gave her the kraft cheese singles available here, but she did not like it. It has a lot more salt then the one available in the US. could somebody pls suggest any other brand or type of cheese which i can give her.

Would really appreciate it.
Rgds,
PS.

If you are looking for cheese without rennet, I have come across 'PUK' cheese spread, manufactured in Denmark, which does not contian rennet.

although rennet is obtained from the stomachs of young mammals living on milk, especially from the inner lining of the fourth, or true, stomach of milk-fed calves//very young calves,,,it has a substance containing rennin, an enzyme havin the the property of cloating curdling and milk.,,,
but in many places, they have commercially used the rennet word as a noun which actually means the enzyme in it,,and if at all thats the case in your place,,thn all cheese will have rennet,,,now how to identify the one that doesnt contain the animal tissue ::::::::::
vegetable rennet brand contains ne word that is vegetable rennet, microbial rennet,or citric acid or fungal rennet, thn its not a animal rennet..its the animal rennet that is harmful for human digestives,,esp the babies/kids..
although its harmful only in the longer run when cheese becomes a main part of diet,,,otherwise not,,,
but looking to caclium it provides and fat levels,,cheese is offered almost everyday to toddler until their age of 4-5years...and may be thenonwards...

only around 35% of worldwide cheese can be done by use of animal rennet and the rest 65% is done with other coagulants,,inspite of this ratio,,the vegetable rennet cheese or microbial rennet is hard to find in store !
the other names of vegetable rennet are mold and some mention words like natural enzymes,,,,,if these are mentioned thn its vegetable rennet and not animlal based rennet,,,

so hope this clears as to what does rennet mean in your place,,,you can look for some good markets wherein speciality/organic/green/international or vegetarian foods are available,,,they will be keeping these kind of foods..i also heard that amul is available and to my knowledge it doesnt contain animal fat !
and acc to my readings,,,there is a concept in muslim religion called haraam and halal,,considers cheese with animal fat as haraam and the cheese in their diet is only permissible if rennet of plant / microbial origin is used. please if someone has a better view on this, do share,,it was my readings in some site where all the religion concepts were explained with their traditions,,,,and this was just right from it...and may be the words mentioned might not be the right one or properly framed,,,,,but i dont intend to insult or comment on ne religion..for me i respect every religion, culture nd all the country traditions ,,, jst wanted to mention this because dubai is muslim country and there should be availability of cheese without animal fat..just wrking the possibility of the product available there,,,,,,if at all neone feels offended by the reasoning i gave,,,, i sincerely apologize for it,,it was not my intentions...please take it positively.

take care,,
