Hi,
My newborn is 3 weeks old. Other things are fine, he is feeding both BM and formula milk as suppliment. However I have noticed that he passes urine too many times in a day something like 20-25 times. Is this OK ? Please advice.
Thanks in advance

Hetal replied. there is only one worry involved,,
if at all the frequency has increased in a day or so and is not regular,,thn your baby needs to be seen by your dr. when it comes to infants, below 3months, dont wait to check with neone !
get your baby checkedup first....its not a worth to discuss about 3weeks infant when it comes to high bladder frequency...
other signs are:
1. if your baby cries while urinating,,thn he needs to be seen by your dr.
2. if your baby has dry mouth even after regular feeds or frequent feed,,your baby is dehydrated.
3.one of the cause is uriniary infection, but in that the colour of urine will be darker,,so check his diaper.
4. once a while overstimulation of bladder muscles or overactive bladder is okay,,but if it stays more than 2 days,,your baby needs to see your dr.
5.calm your baby,,sometimes overstimulation of body muscles(which is normal from 1moonth onwards),,causes overactive bladder...soothe him with light music,,and relax him,,give him massages and see if that effects his frequency,,,keep the lights dim around your baby,,too much of light before 3months of age,,causes overstimulation in baby activities,,and thus might cause overactive bladder..
watch his freequency, stools and ne discomforts,,check for his temperatures,,breastfeed him more often to keep him well hydrated or offer him lil amts of formula more often thn his regular feeds...
good luck

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
