hey u can make her sit up while trying to poop.. as in when she is exerting pressure, either on the potty or on your feet to help her pass her stools.. in this position lubricating her anus with some oil helps.

Mom has given good answers..

avoid ne kind of oils or honey for babies below 1 year.

no lubrication is needed unless its prescribed by the dr as the causes of constipation is different in all cases..

its better to ask your dr to prescribe a lubrication that is easier to apply and only if your baby needs to have one,,otherwise most of the constopation probs are solved with some mild medication or diluted prune juice.....

the oil remedy in anus is used only when the outer skin of anus is dry/cracked or bleeding,,othrwise, with proper fibr diet mentioned by in post below should give your baby regular motions/stools.

if not, don't wait to try other home remedy, contact your dr in india immmediately and ask him what can be done...sometimes drs are aware of over the counter medicines that help babies in case of urgencies,,or ask your friend in UK,,if she can give a call to her dr and ask for medication...

its not advisable to wait for more than 3days with home remedies.

good luck

when my baby had constipation, he was 8months old.
hetal adviced me to give boiled(with skin) apricots with cereal, pears(boiled with skin),ripe banana and spinach in his diet.
all these foods helped.give your baby lot of diluted juiced e.g. apple juice, prune with banana juice. it really helps. my baby has very severe constipation problem.
don't give your baby dalia. it is wheat product and i think we can not give it at 7months.
give rice items more. they are light food and easy to digest.
in one of recent post, hetal had also mentioned giving whole moong water with rice. my baby is very sensitive to hard stools and constipation.he eats apple and he gets constipated.
since i started moong water, it clears his stomach and his stools have become regular.i can also give apple him without any worry.

all these works like magic.no need to put anything to your baby anus area.
gripe water does not work for constipation.check hetal recent post on colic, gas and reflux in feeding board. and in some recent post with subject constipation in this board.
in all post gripe water has never helped.you will get lot of information on constipation.

personally, for me also gripe water has never helped except once when my baby was suffering from colic.
my ped also refuses to give it.

hope my exp helps you.

It is considered ok if baby doesnt pass stools for around 3 days, u need to start worry if its 4-5 days.

u can do this
1) give food/intake that can help in constipation, out of whatever u hv been giving to the baby .. like fibre food such as daliya/items with veg like spinach/apple pie

2- check on constipation causing intake such as milk (normal or formula, not bm). U said u r giving her strictly formula, then u also need to give her plain water. When i asked my doc how much water to b given, she said as much as u can gv and she can take - in a day. I typically gv water in bowl n spoon, atleast 30-40 mins after feed. So including baby's sleep etc, i m able to gv her 1 ounce water each 3-4 times a day. My baby is just 5m.

So lookout for constipation causing items in her intakes. I wont say stop giving them, just limit them for now, and also work on their balances (like formula needs to be balanced by giving water, costipation causing foods to be balanced with fibre foods)

I dont think u need to put baby strictly on formula bec of this. Relax, baby wd be fine.

3- Dctors these days dont recommend gripe water. Also, the brand's are not always trustworthy, i hv heard a famous brand gr water has alchoholic contents, i think u can stop that

4- no honey too. not for such a small baby

5. when my baby dint pass stools till 4 days and wd exert pressure to pass, the Dr suggested me to open up the anus a little and apply coconut oil with my little finger (lubricant)
Well i cd not do that, but i tilted her and put drops of coconut oil so that it flew inside. It helped, baby passed stools in a while

hope this helps

RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]

Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
