Hi,
from past 15 days I am quite worried as my son who is 8 mths old weighs 8 kgs is not having proper diet

His diet is:
8 am - Milk (120ml)
10 am - earlier he used to have banana milkshake, now skips this
12:30 pm - rice/dal ( powder mix)/rava kheer/cerelac) - nowa days he doesnt like this too
5 pm - milk biscuit
8 pm - milk ( 90 ml)
10 pm - cerelac

but inbetween he takes bm, or i shld say he is mostly on bm.

Pls advice on his diet and also how do i increase his appetite

I am quite tense...

thanks ritu

check mypost to vidhya, just a couple below yours..her baby is of same age..
other reasons for baby to fuss all of the sudden and stop eating at 7months onwards are:
1.teething,check their gums, swollen, reddish or pink is sign of teething,,babies dont like to eat in teethign.
2. baby expecting varieties,,now about his diet :

8 am - Milk (120ml) - no comments..
10 am - earlier he used to have banana milkshake, now skips this,,offer iron fortified cereals,,pref now that he is 8months, you can give him all single grain cereals, and start their combinations of single grain but not mixed cereals.chk my post to vidya abt feeding chart/amts.

12:30 pm - rice/dal ( powder mix)/rava kheer/cerelac) - nowa days he doesnt like this too ...avoid rava kheer,,add more textures, see if your baby accepts it.,,addmore vegies, khichadi to his diet.

5 pm - milk biscuit,,add in other textures like soaked toasts..

8 pm - milk ( 90 ml),,,no comments,,

10 pm - cerelac...

your timings need some more gap ! you are giving 8am milk and then in 2 hours u are giving him brunch and then again just in 1.5 hours you are offering lunch !!
between milk and brnch,2 hours is ok but the gap of brunch/milkshake,,and lunch is too less,,take it upto 3 hours.
and then go for 3 hours schedule..it will help.and from lunch to biscuit, its the big gap of 4 hours !!!! inbetweens bm is ok but its not a meal for him ! he is 8months old !! why that differences,,make it a good gap for all servings...
offer more vegies, more fruits,,replace milk shake with chopped fruits like boiled apples, banana,,pears,,see if he accepts it.
do you refer as MILK as cows milK ?,,please avoid that if so..give bm or formula..

Hi Ritu,

my girl is also 8 months & 8 kgs...she too fusses sometimes with food. What I have realised is try different receipes/flavours whenever u feel that the baby is not eating well. For eg : instead of banana milkskake try chikoo / apple milkshake, add boiled grated carrots/spinach in cerelac etc, add few sauf while boiling milk (if not formula) etc
Other healthy foods are Nachini/Raggi porridge cooked with milk/water & gud/sugar.

To increase appitite ask your pead to suggest some tonics. I give a tonic \" Aptimum \" to my baby.

Take care
Swati
