small baby - Eating Problems Discussion Forum - Parents of Preschoolers Message Boards

My son is a below average guy, both in height and weight. i'm trying my level best to feed him variety of foods and he is not a bad eater too. But i don't know why he is not gaining height and weight. I know that all these factors are heredity dependent, we both are of shorter side. But for the next generation we expect more. I also have a 16 month old.He is also not on the plump side,but height wise he is quite tall.he is also slim and very very active.I know how you feel because Iam also somewhat there.Whatever I feed him he is just ok but not gaining much weight.I remember reading somewhere if he takes in 2 kinds or servings of vegetables,2 kinds of fruits,2 servings of protein and 2 or 3 servings of milk or dairy products in a day, then your child will grow up really well.this is what I stick to.
So eventhough my boy does not gain as much weight as I want him to,one thing Iam very sure that I am giving him a good diet!.I think that is how you should also take it!.
Since your boy is 1 year old you can start pediasure on him( a health drink like complan or boost, one exception is that it can be given as soon as the baby is 1 year old!).

Thats why i'm concerned about his growth. Tanvi replied. My daughter is also having similar problems. She is about 5 yrs. We gifted bicycle in her birthday. And half problems are solved. We started skatting and whole problem solved.
In todays days children want some effortfull physical activity. Otherwise they will see TV and become dumbo.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I've already started Pediasure, his doctor recommended that. I dont know why this guy is not gaining.... Their hyper activity might be the reason. Any way i'm also giving him a well planned diet. And one more thing is we cant compare our kids with this growth chart wise, b'coz Indian kids are always there as average or below average(I wish, if there is something like this for indian kids also). Let's do our duty at our level best.
