I feel you are responsible for this behaviour of your teen kid. What you may be doing unknowingly, may have prompted your kid to behave in that manner. You may be picking out his mistakes always without looking into yours. Every time a mistake is pointed and he is asked to say a sorry, he gets the feeling that this is not right as you as a parent are also in the wrong. It is high time now to make amends. Whenever you experience this behavior, you can take the initiative and say a sorry to him explaining him why you reacted in such a manner. You should also say that you would try to manage anger better from next time. It will help the child learn to formulate similar responses to attacks. it will help the child acknowledge his or her own role in the current dispute.When the parent leads the way by apologizing, children find it easier and more natural to follow suit.

I think parents should say sorry to their kids but only if they are in the wrong. every one makes mistakes sometimes. Everybody is imperfect. There are many parents who present themselves to their kids as if perfect. Such parents never apologize for anything because, in their opinion, they are never wrong. They are also quick to identify mistakes in their kids and keen on hearing apologies for wrongdoings. This is good as far as kids are small but when they become adolescents, they may take to talking back and challenging the parent.The parent actually teaches the child, through his or her model, that defensive remarks are appropriate ways to respond to criticism.

Hi

Saying sorry to the kids is the hardest thing for most of the parents. Children look up to parents as their role models. Parents keep commanding few things for the kids to obey. But at the same time kids´ sub-conscious mind keep observing his or her parents. It is important to admit and say sorry when the parents make mistakes infront of their children.
