hi, here are some ways i found people make milkshakes and treats..
if you are mixing yogurt and milk and banana and then giving, stop it.
if you are giving with milk and banana, nothing wrong in that.give at room temperature.give upto 5oz.add in cardamom with this.

if you are giving yogurt and banana mixed together, give at room temperature and make sure the yogurt does not get sour by the time you feed. add in some cardamom for ease in digestion for all the three ways of making it.

personally i will not recommend giving yogurt and banana together acc to ayurvedic results, which i will explain later...,unless its yobaby yogurt thats is available in US. yobaby is processed yogurt so its safe to give,,however homemade yogurt and banana combination often happens to react against eachother. first being milk product its heavy, and banana adds to its volume.

now the reason why i dont recommend acc to ayurveda about eating banana with watever forms will diminish agni (change in the intestinal flora) and produce toxins that MAY cause sinus congestion, cold, cough and allergies.although both of these foods have sweet taste and have a cooling energy, their post digestive effect is very different. banana gets sour in the process and milk remains sweet.this causes confusion in our digestive system and MAY result in toxins, allergies and other imbalances, that CAN further cause skin rashes or skin pigmentation problems also.this is for first timers with this feed.
HOWEVER, this is the case ONLY with the apetites whose digestives were sensitive to this undesired combinations or were first timers with these foods. otherwise,if your baby body has been accustomed to a certain habit, then there is likely that his body will NOT show any of the results mentioned above. the simple reason behind this explanation is the body gets used to digesting it and if it does, you are lucky to have a such a digestives.
often if you add antidotes or spices like cardamom, ginger or cumin pwder to these kind of foods, the negative effects are nullified.

so instead i would recommend you to give your baby lassi at the end of the meal, with room temperature 1/4thcup yogurt:2pinches of ginger pwder and cumin pwder in 1 cup of water..now thats the total ratio,,you can further decrease or increase it acc to how your baby accepts it.

since your baby is having cold, ginger will work on it, cumin will become its digestive aid and flush out all the mucus thru bowels, and water will minimize the cooling effect of yogurt.

however giving banana with this, is totally your decision.if you were giving this long time before your baby caught cold, his body is already accustomed to it, so i will not stop giving it. but at the most reduce the amt to 5oz.which is enough for 19month old as a milkshake.
these additions will help him relieve from cold and he will njoy it.
Good Luck
