Name: sonia Hi all,
I m mother of a 4 yr. old girl. My concern is that my baby is not ready to wear the new clothes even after buying the same with her choice. She is reluctant to wear any type of fancy or formal dress. whenevr there is any kind of fancy dress competition or something like that where she has to portray a character she goes by crying. Pls suggest if anyone has the answer.

Hi Sonia,

I totally understand your problem. Even I have a 4 year old daughter. Well the best way to get your child do things is to get her interested. Forcing a kid will not work. That will harm the kid and the parent.

When ever you are going to buy stuff for her, make a story. Tell her that you guys are going shopping to buy her something and she need to choose it.

Coming to her wearing fancy dress, first you guys need to dress up or pretend to wear those dress and show the kid. Its all based on their interest. If the kid develops interest herself its the best way.

At this age kids mimic and want to do things like the adults. They mostly do and relate to things what their parents or teacher do. For eg. They might take a cloth and put it like a duppatta, take a small bag and get int their cycle saying they are going to work. This is something they see their mom going to work.

The best way to overcome what your kid is going through is to build stories and paint pictures in your kids mind. This should surely help you.
