Hetal replied. your baby is having secondary lactose intolerance which explains that his intestinal lining has been injured by an infection or an allergy or due to malnutrition,,
so at your visit to your native,,ne of these could have caused this...
most of the secondary lactose intolerance,,are temporary and lasts only until the lining is not healed properly..once healed it often goes off..,,unless otherwise it has been injured permanently or so badly that it cant be repaired/cured.....which explains why he got loose motions or fever.
ayurvedic treatment is slow when it comes to treatng ne kind of illnes esp the viral or bacterial infections.so relying on it might not give you results.
to some extent, milk is said to produced mucus in body and thats how the saying that milk or milk products are not good during cold,,but if the baby is lactose intolrnt thn the conclusion fails to explains why the babies catch cold...so the relativty betwn milk and cold is first of all an unexplained theory and ne relavance to it is not true as of now !
and in ayurveda itself, they offer turmeric with milk 3times a day in cold or fever ! body needs lots of fluids,,during cold and fever,,and if the body is lactose tolerance thn drinking a glass of low creme or low fat milk will help get out of bed from fever earlier than he would without milk !! but yes taking low dairy diet or minimal diet is recomnded...
so eliminatng compltly one type of food is no good for body that needs good nutritn during the recovery period...unless otherwise its the case of diarea or dysentery or food poisoning..
secondary lactose intolernce is not only caused by infection but also due to allergies.it could be that at your visit to your native these allergens might have triggerd cold and fever and thn further your baby gets infection and vizaversa..it also happens that your son might have been fed something that might have caused inflammation in his intestinal linings or gut linings and its this reason he started passng loose motions,,and then fever due to loose motions and often with loose motions or vomittng,,cold is side symptom...
as to what might have triggerd first,, could b either the prilimnry signs or the result of internal infection triggrd by these allergens....
your dr suspected your baby to have intestinal prob or gastrointestinal disorder/illness just when he had cold and fever at the first episode thats how he was given nutrolin-b,,and crocin to stop fever..
so thats all i was able to see,,upto my reach,, the reasons of his recurring colds/fevers,,is either allergy(whenever he goes out, he is sick), internal infection not recoverd completely and its triggerd by allergens..
now about his diet at 8months :
8-9 sago rice -- avoid sago,,its not doing ne good to your baby ! offer him healthy alternatives,,offer him iron fortified cereals,,with soy based formula and not milk based formula..
check about sago :
http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=6744&table_name=dis_feeding
if gettng iron fortified cereal is not available at your place,,make your own :
replace the cereal serving with similar grain poridge with some fruits in it,,include dash of spinach in each serving to give natural iron with the poridge...you can offer cereal in order as mentioned below:1.rice cereal / or overcooked rice with dash of spinach..2.oatmeal cereal/ oats soaked, overcooked and grinded well with dash of spinach or some apple puree.3.barley cereal or barley soaked, grinded and overcooked with a sprinach..4.lastly millet cereal or millet soaked and cooked likewise..by the time you will reach to millet cereal, your baby will be around 9months...
10 waterwith sugar(then only he drink)-- replace this with some chopped fruits,,boiled apples, papaya,mosambi/sweet orange/sweet lime juice diluted with water,,see if he takes it with some glucose in it. avoid giving sugar,,offer him juices if sweetness satisfies him ! but avoid sugar in water !!!
11-11.15 daily oil bath(have stopped 4 long time after loose motion, now only re started) i hope this means massage followed by bath ! massage is a good way to soothe sick baby,,so continue that..but wheneve cold, avoid giving long baths,,massage is not needed for more than 5min and bath should be over by another 5mins,,exposing your baby to open air should be avoided as much as possible,,after bath, make him wear warm but cotton clothes, and make sure to apply vicks on his chest, back of chest, feet(as soon as your apply vicks babyrub in feet, make him wear socks, cover it),,and a touch below the earlobes and head,,,
11;45 water with sugar ( avoid water with sugar,,slowly decrease the amt of sugar and keep trying to offer water only...)
1-2 rice with thoor dal(ground paste from mixie) --- toor dal is very gassy, avoid it,,offer your baby moong dal or wholemoong dal with rice...
water
4-6 sago water --- again sago...your baby is not gettng enough food or variety,,offer him variety of vegetables and fruits...
8-8.30 mashed potato n apple--- avoid potato,,everyday...give sweet potato instead...
night 3-4 times soya milk --- 100% soya milk is not recmnded before 1 year of age,,try offering your child soy based infant formula...
please go thru the link below and see what your baby is ready to eat,,he is expected to eat as below on approx...
diet and schedule/intake :
some preventive steps for cold :
http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=1699&table_name=dis_healthissues
to prevent allergies,,see if this is the cause :
http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=1742&table_name=dis_healthissues
to avoid fevers and colds, give your baby lots of fresh fruits and vegetables,,esp Vit C diet, zinc rich foods(potatoes/sweet potatoes, peas, egg yolks okay to give from 8months onwards,,go slow,,avoid giving whites,,corn, spinach, lentils(avoid toor and channa as of now),,cucumber..,
SUGAR IS BIG NO NO FOR COLDS,,IT FORMS MUCUS..
include lots of magnesium rich foods: brocolli, green leafy vegetables, millet, barley,,soaked raisins(check for refluxes),banana with peaches(give banana with peaches because your baby is having cold),,cauliflower,,sweetcorn,,chicken can be started,,apples..you can also start putting in his rice and dal some oat bran...
hope this helps,,to me your baby is not eating enough,,he should be eating lots of vegetables and fruits, and he is also not drinking enough formula as wel..which explains why he is gettng sick so often..ne body in order to have a strong immune needs a proper diet atleast the minimal calories to survive or prevent it from all illness,,if that itself is not given,,its much explained why he catches simple cold and fever often,,,
and the other main reason is see is sugar !
check on all the above diet chart, and all foods he eats,,,and keep me updated about his health..
please take a second opinion if needed..ayurvedic treatment at this young age is not recmnded,,your baby will suffer more if it happens to fails,,which is likely to happen in case the actual root cause of sickness comes out to be something different..please understand that ayurvedic treatments are good but when in case of primary lactose intolrnce or allergy or asthma,,these are either triggrd by allergens or foods and are unlikely to cure permanently with ne alternative or even alopath medicine...
please dont take that chance when it comes to baby below 1 year !!!
nething else let me know,,and keep me updated,,good luck !

Hi, sory for late reply,,yesday i wrote you but i couldnt post the reply,,had some network probs...
neways, now your prob,...
as i mentioned earlier, allergs could be one of the reasons, but as to what triggerd this and took it to worst, is now seen,,is a climate change or viral infection. your baby is 8months,which makes his recovery period to be longer thn everyone,,most of the times,,if the baby is in continuously sick, his recovery rate becomes slow altogther..
other is your baby was just 8months old, why was ayurvedic medicine given. the medicine has to be given with honey, and honey is not recmnded before 1 year,,resultng in many probs.
also, giving nebuliser would have provd to better results than the medicine you are giving..ne allergy or asthma case is unlikely to cure with ayurvedic treatment, please note that.
so stop making your child suffer more. the unlikeliness is because of most of the allergy, asthma cases are genetic or are because of immature passages,,,which can not be cured,,unless otherwise the causes of allergens are airborne or chemical allergies..
now about your baby diet,..
apple is good to give in loose motions..so do offer boiled(with skin),pureed or small pieces, watever your baby prefers and offer that..
apple is good for all weather !
many cases where baby was given nebuliserr,,the kids recoverd well in a week or 15 days or 1 month,,with regular use and recoverd better.
apart from that, watever medicines you have been giving were all for cold, allergy or antiinflamtry or antibiotics...so all have been gven because of your sons health cndition..
please dont mix ayurvedic treatments with allopath..continung allopath medcine is wise idea when baby is sufferng and loosng wght !
so take care hope this health.

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
