Thanks for the reply. Only one more week for my baby to complete 8 months. So will wait for another week. Thanks a lot for ur advices. My doc asked me to start only after 8 months. But after ur reply only i could get the real meaning of that..
thanks,
Heera.
Hetal replied. its not advisable to give any type yogurt or cheese,or any other type of other milk products, unless baby completes 8months..this is a general guideline.
these guidelines are acc to baby digestive capacity and their capacity to absorb 100% nutrients from every single food they take.
kids who were started from 9th month onwards, were able to digest it nicely and were able to absorb 100% of its nutrients, and also most of them didnt show any rashes or refluxes, the others some 10% showed rashes and other diff stomach upset,,and they were coz they were sensitive to milk products,,and were switched to soy.
however, if you are really willing to start, the best thing to do is ask your dr.he knows your baby health right from day 1, and likewise you will be told by him to start certain foods as needed by your baby on every well child checkup.so give him a call and ask him, nothin wrong !
for my daughter, she was doing just fine without an extra boost of calcium & so my dr wanted to wait until she completed her 10months !
so it depends.
check for any refluxes, rashes, or stomach upset due to cheese/yogurt, esp if started before 8months... the time of offering yogurt to the baby should be atleast 1-2hour before or after offering of any form of milk;to avoid any odds.inshort, offer between feeds or during meal times !
also, sometimes babies bowels smell very sour when yogurt is started, its a sure sign that your baby has not been able to digest it well,,which means, try after sometime !!
also, some kids have shown some mild constipation when yogurt was started, so you might want to keep an eye on number of bowels.if so, add in some water, give diluted yogurt, make it a buttermilk and give, and it also means, try 100% yogurt, after some time :)...
good luck
