Hi Hetal & all,

My baby is 8 months. She is not taking bottle & takes BM only when she sleeps. Because of this i have give her solids 4 times a day. She is also a fussy eater. I try to give her formula by spoon but she doesn't know to drink, she spits it back. Please suggest me some method to feed her milk..

Thanks for ur reply. I forgot to mention that I started to give my baby bottle from day 1 atleast once a day. She was ok with the bottle till 2 months. After that she became very fussy on both bottle & breast. So i have to stop bottle sometime & breast feed only. Now she doesn't take bottle at all.

Another thing is my baby likes formula. She doesn't want take it from the bottle. By spoon if i make her to feed 2 ounces , the total intake will be 1 ounce & 1 ounce she will spit out & it also takes time to feed her by spoon. She likes to take by cup but the only probelm she is not able to drink from cup. I am trying both the methods & have to wait..

Hetal replied. also, start offering with glass directly,,no harm,,if your baby accepts that,,nothing wrong,,you will be one of those lucky parents who will never have to carry ne bottles or sippy cup with you,,,
check for his cues on his likings..you have alot of options available since you bf exclusively untilnow,,watever you are goin to introduce,will b all new for him !!!
good luck Hetal replied. at first, you introduced bottle late.i wont blame you many insist that its better babies arent introduced to bottles ne time !if you still want to introduce,how about trying wide mouth bottle nipple,,they have a bulb like structure which resembles breast.they also have diff levels of liquid flow valve or diff stages nipple,,try one of them,,c wat he accepts.
for transition to formula, mix bm, formula and then as the baby accepts drinking it, reduce the amt of bm in it. it will be an easy transition.
also, give bm in bottle and then try, before sleeping,,with introducing bm with bottle, he might take it.and might not ask from you, if he is already fed nicely.you dont feed your baby, if you have your dh or someone else around, let them do it, its because, at 8months, baby knows it very well, that you are available, so he will resist or ignore to take it with bottle in your presence..so be absent ! go out of room, if possible.

also,keep trying with spoon. give very lil qty, it will take time for him to accept it.
other than that, not much we can do but wait for baby to learrn sucking skills. as far as your baby is not goin underweight, i am not worried much,,,transitioning needs alot of patience,,keep trying.
also, best time to start sippy cup, so get those soft spout ones, with flow control valves,,dnt worry if he just bites or plays with it, until 11months:),,or rather introduce that directly instead of bottle,,i doubt he will be able to suck that nicely at 8months,,,so i told about wide neck bottles to you.
