Feeding:Bow legs --- worried .

Hi Hetal and everyone ,

I have a question on bow leg in kids. My baby had it since he was born and my inlaws teached me to massage it properly by holding the legs together . I do that till now and he is 11 months and very active kid . He started crawling by 6 months and walking by 10 months. But as my inlaws still say the bow leg shape is still there and we need to do something etc.We are worried.
I have read in books about it being due to the way the baby was in our womb and will get better as they walk . Now as he started walking do anyone know how much time it takes.
And anyone facing this problem ?? I had checked with my doc during his 6 month appointment and he said its no problem .
He walks really fast and is quite active and naughty kid.

Hope i get a reply ...

Regards and love to all kids,
Disha.

hi,
its normal as late upto 15-24months.
get him a good leg massage... in some babies it has seen for longer duration and later on, it has cleared on its own.if the bow legs aare more than the a particular angle which is decide by seeing how your baby walks,,,then only your dr will be worried about it.
otherwise, there are no concerns.. its not only in the womb that causes bow legs,,bow legs have been seen in common with healthy babies where their torso part was shorter but heavier than their limbs part.. also in some cases, even though they were equally sized, because of high body mass or good weight, it has been seen that they have had bow legs upto the age of 2 years !
mostly after 2 years of age, kids become pretty much active and they are switched to normal foods that dont contain high fats like those before 2 years,,so eventually they get back in shape,,resulting in improvment in their bow legs...
so there are no concerns as of now,,,your baby is active baby, so njoy his liveliness !
good luck
