Nurseries and Schools:Need for Playschool

My son is 2 years 4 months old. Many people have suggested that I put him to playschool. However me and my husband feel that this age is to early to start off with such things. I keep him in a creche as I am working. I wish to know why it has become so necessary to put kids in a playschool. What sort of !!!! competition !!!!! exists at this age. Is it a prerequisite for schools. What is it that makes it important for the interview preparation? Please advice so that we may decide on time !! Thanks in advance !!

As long as you have given them the social environment outside (creche in your case) and the bare minimum learning/awareness at home, at this age, i dont think any more is required. i hv put my daughter in playgroup so she gets to socialize with other ppl. she has no option otherwise.

There is a preKG part of the academics these days that should prepare the kid for the KG. As long as the child is getting the basic exposures, and has other kids to play with regularly, that shd suffice.
