Feeding:Raagi for 1 year old

Hi,
I recently got some raagi powder mix( raagi + other grains) from India . I was wondering in what consistency do do you guys give it to your kids. Is it ok to boil it with milk and give it in a cereal consistency?. Also, raagi really bloats up when boiled. Even one spoon makes a lot when boiled. So, how many teaspoons spoons is sufficient and normal for a 1 year old.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

try this.
for consistency, go for whatever your baby likes,,that liking again will keep changing as they advance further...
my baby is right now 11 months and for raagi she likes it soupy and not the paste ! so i give her that way.
its true, that any flour thats boiled makes almost double qty,,,giving 1 year old, 1 tblp or more dpending on his liking and apetite is good to give..raagi esp is very heavy flour !considered heavy than wheat,,so even if you give little its big thing for your lil baby belly...
for my baby, i roast 1tsp of raagi flour and 1tsp of rice and then add extra water and with it,
( roasting makes grain or flour granules hard but they easy to cook as well, which further prevents them from bloating or increase in their size while cooking,,,)
because my baby has shown that raagi is too heavy for her,,but raagi being an excellent source of iron, i want to give her so i give her that way...
good luck.

Hi,

Thats good that you got nutritous food for him from india. i take about 1 full teaspoon and mix it with maybe 2 ou8nces water and boil it. Then i add a little formula milk to it towards the end. I put the quantity of milk depending on my required consistency.
