Feeding:underweight baby

My 16 month daughter is underweight and I am very worried. She refuses to eat anything other than milk and fruits. She weighs only 8 kgs now and is around 76 cms tall. She started walking only when she was 14 months old. She does not have many of her teeth as yet. I am very worried. Any suggestions. Docotor says not to worry.
Anything will help.

hi sg.
if milk & fruits are her main favs,,add in other foods with it ! how about things like fruit khichadi ( add in her fav fruits,i will take pear, banana, couple raisins, rice and dal and a sprinkle of cardamom,,offer with ghee )...this is nutrious.
add in more banana, apple in diet, banana with ghee is said to increase weight and apetite.
to increase apetite of the baby, offer some soup about half an hour b4 lunch time or meal time...any soup or simple tomato juice with a dash of ghee is great !
i cannot say that your baby was late in teething and walking, as the maximum time for a baby to have teeth and walk is 18 months, but i can definately tell you that increase her calcium intake !
try offering milk products, if she is more on milk side,,,cheese(moderate, and hard cheeses only, sharp cheddar, and parmasan, colby jack),, and also start giving curds or yogurts in noon..give it fresh and not sour or refrigerated !,,offer fresh curd with mashed banana with a sprinkle of cardamom, or 1 drop of vanilla pure extract in the homemade fresh thick curd,..it add flavour and its completely harmless...
and after all, since your dr isnt worries, there is nothing to worry about..also babies take parents body structure in their heritance..so you might want to consider that..
as far as your baby is not getting tired in her activities, playing well & growing good,,its ok once a while for weight to reduce..
again, just want to add, once babies start teething and walking, their body does loose or stop gaining weight..
so take care and dont worry..
you know your baby best, if you are still worried even though your dr isnt and its bothering you,,,try taking a second opinion of some other dr,,c what he says,,if the results are same -- sit back and relax !
njoy good luck
