babies preferences, habits, tastes in foods are diffferent in each case. since you are saying you are vegetarian, i had just posted a message on vegie foods in July2005 due date group, to Arpita, please check that..its with subject \";hetal i think you missed my post\";dated ithink some 2 days ago only.
it will give you some idea.there couple other posts too when we talked about foods.
give your baby time to choose on his own when he is comfortable with different textures of foods, but keep trying, c if one fine day he starts eating it. because you never know when they have moods to do that ! also, its always good for you, if she starts accepting lumpier foods,,its easy for you.try giving one day, one lump in the food,,other day, 2 and third day, 3-4 or more, depending on his preferences.keep trying.
as far as your baby is eating, no matter in wat texture, its not a matter of concern..
and when it comes to babies, always keep your dr in the track of each of your babies habits and change ! if your dr is happy with your baby growth, there is absolutely no worries.
wheneverr my baby gets in teething, she completely stops eating or sometimes wants to eat only teething biscuits,,once she extended her fast for 3 whole days, only on milk !!! but there was no change in her health, weight or so,,so my dr wasnt concerned much....also after she has walking in 11thmonth, now in 1 month down the line, her weight is not increasing, which is normal !!! as far as she is not reducing to weight my dr isnt worried !
so talk to your dr.
good luck

You might want to check with your doctor/ped about her weight. How is she with her milk/formula intake? If she likes cheese, it is a good way to increase calories. What about eggs? I know you mentioned being vegetarian. I dont know how you feel about giving eggs. If you consume eggs, there is a recipe I gave sometime back for soft scrambled eggs with cheese.
Don't worry about her not wanting lumpy foods. My son did the same even when he was 2. My ped's comment was \";he likes tastes but not textures\";. My SIL even laughed and asked why I was bothering with textured foods. She mashed my niece-nephews' foods even at 3! It will gradually get better. At 3, my son is able to eat textured food (only if he likes them!).
If you want to introduce lumpier foods this is one tip which I read. Let's say it is apple. Mix lots of apple puree with tiny bits of fruit. That might encourage her to accept the lumps. But this did not work with my son!
Don't even bother with cut fruits now. Just make smoothies with fruit and yogurt. Offer it in a spoon. You can pressure cook apples. They are yummy and dont need any added sugar.
I think at 13 months it is more important to get her used to tastes. For biscuits or bread dip them into milk and give it. For bread, you can dip them into milk and slightly heat it in the tava. Kids relish it. Try some parathas with ghee. You could soften them with yogurt.
You could add some ghee to her kichadi to add calories. But do not go overboard on the ghee no matter how desperate you are about her weight. Pediatricians sometime suggest that you add some powder to her milk. Check with the ped before you do anything.
I was very worried about my son's disinterest in eating lumpy food. He was the only one in his playgroup who was like that. But children develop at different rates. There were other things he was doing faster! I am glad that even my ped did not add to my concern.
