Hi,
My daughter is 8 months old. She was a good eater till few days back. Now she started crawling and lost interest in foods.I feel she lost weight.(she was 15 lb one month back.Don't know current weight). i try to make meal time enjoyable by letting her also involved in eating. She likjes eating on her own but won't open mouth for us to feed.So usually i give when she open to bite food in her hand.Once it goes inside she will eat without any difficulties. Now she takes B.milk in morning. raggi or south indian b.fast like half small dosa around 9. Half cup mango pulp or 1/2 apple around 11. Little rice+curry at noon.Say 1/3 cup. Again after by evening one more fruit serving or veg soup. At night rice.
Is it normal that kids loss weight as they start crawling and walking? Any suggestion to get back her interest?Any special recipes?.. I was planning to give egg yolk on alternate day.????Will it be ok?Please give ur suggestions and ideas. I am little worried. My daughter is but healthy and active.Only worry is loss of weight and disinterest in food.Pleae help
Thanks,
Lakshmi

Hi
This is a phase some kids go through when thery are more interested in crawling ang exploring rather than eating and naturally there will be a weight loss. as long as she is active and alert dont worry. they will catch up on the weight. i have a 11 month old and had the same problem and she still fusses a lot. you can add potatoes and butter to her diet she may gain weight. try kheers, porridges and chenge her diet every other day as she may like variety. try rasam rice with no spice and veggies, mix veg pulavs and juices. Bananas are also nutritous. if shes not allergic u can give curds. you must check for egg alllergy as some babies get it if u start egg before a year. you cn check with the doc.babies have their own inbuilt food mechanism when they know how much to eat. you must worry only if she falls sick or is very dull.
hope this helps
