Hi,
I have an 8 month old baby girl. i am really worried abt the feeds i give her, whether it sufficent or something else need to be added, etc....i did send 3 mails to the forum in the past 2 days....but did not get any reply...hope u will help me....

Given below is the diet....

I give her milk(Breast milk/LactoDex) when she wakes up in the morning at around 8-8:30.
Then ragi porridge cooked in water with candy sugar at 10:30-11:00.
At around 1:00-1:30, Rice porridge with butter.
4-4:30 breast milk/Lactodex
Cooked apple or veggie soup (carrot, beans, potato)or Nestum (rice, dhal and vegetables) at 8:00-8:30.
Then breast milk at 10:00 before she sleeps.
Then if she gets up at around 12, I give her lactodex

I am really confused regarding d quantity n the foods. and i really dont know whether I am giving my baby enough feeds....so I request all of u to give your valuable adivce....

Thanx

Sumitha

hi

ur feeding schedule is quite good. instead like direct 11am ragi, try to bring it to 9am breakfast then 1pm dal rice+ veggies, 5pm fruits, 9pm dinner. inbetween give her milk.
as ur baby is 8 months complete u can start adding curd, cheese in their diet.

takecare.

Dear Sumitha,
How are you doing? I think you are feeding your 8 months old baby quite well.Try and maintain 7-8 feeds a day.

For the mid morning breakfast, you can make rawa too as an alternative with 1-2 almonds and milk.

After her 4th feed of breastmilk or lactodex at 4- 4.30, you can add one more feed in between at around 6.30 in the evenng. Give her a banana, grind it with three table spoons of milk. She will enjoy this paste.

You can add vegetables and moong dal in the rice khichdi for lunch, try using pure ghee then butter because butter has high sodium content, we better avoid salt at this stage. You can add homemade paneer too, very high in protein.

For dinner in the soup, try adding little dalia with the vegetables, that will give little weight to the meal.
Try and make this her last feed before she sleeps, this way her stomuch will be full and won't get up hungry at night.

I think you are looking after her very well. Keep a track of her weight every month.
It's more important to have a healthy baby then a fat lazy baby.
I too have a daughter, she has turned 11 mnths old now, touchwood she is healthy & quite active. She started to walk on her own when she was 10 months old. Though she doesn't look fat but evrytime i check her weight i see a good gain.

So, don't worry sumitha. You are doing a good job already.

Cheers to motherhood!

love shyameli
