Foetal Growth Movements:growth problems in level 2 ultrasound

This is the first time I am posting my message but I am reading this website since last 6 months.
I am 27 years old and got pregnant in april. Last month when I was 20 weeks,I had the level 2 ultrasound and doctor told me that the baby had excessive fluids in the brain so they called me back after 4 weeks. I went there on last friday and the doctors found a couple of problems.
First he said the baby had fluids in his brain. Second he said the baby's head is 24 weeks which corresponds to my pregnancy weeks but his said his body is only of a 21 weeks fetus. I asked about the gender of the baby but he mentioned something about Ambiguous Genitiala where its hard to say if its a boy or girl.
He recommend us to get the Aminocenthesis test to rule out any chromosomal abnormalities but me and my husband are very relcutant.
I have never heard of all these things in my life and we both don't have any family history of these problems.
Last year I had the miscarriage at 7 weeks and i got pregnant again trying after 7 months. I am so depressed and don't know what to do. My doctor is going to transfer me to another hospital for high risk pregnancy but she is on vacation now.
I can't concentrate on anything and don't know what is going to happen.
Sonia

Hi Sonia,

Sorry to hear that the doc has given you information thats got you so worried.

I cant say anything about the fluid in the brain, as i know nothing about that, btas far as the body and head age correlation is concerned, you have nothing to worry about. Im in my 37th week and my baby's head and body are a week apart and i have read many other notes from girls with the same issue. My doc doesnt seem to be concerned about that at all, so i suggest you dont worry about it too uch. Just make sure your protein intake is very good. So if you eat non-veg, eat lots of eggs, chicken, and little red meat or if veg increase intake of dals and green vegetables.

Also about the ambiguous genetalia- the baby must have been in an awkward position and therefore itmuch have been dificult to conclude th esex of the child.

I hope all goes well with you. Just keep yourself elaxed as i feel that will really halp your baby also., and im sure you will do whatever it takes to ensure good health and safety for your baby.

Do write about what step you are going to take next.

Thanks dolly for your reply. It give me a little confidence that probably things are not that worse as i am expecting. I am going to see a doctor next Thursday in the high risk pregnancy department. Probably they can put more light on whats going on with the baby.
Good luck with your baby. please let me know how was the delivery.
take care!!

RE:adoption in a family
hey ananya this is really a very sensitive case and you should think about it before hand as in what the child would think in future as he or she grows up. Or else you will have to do counselling of the child at the right time.... - ridhi [View Message]

RE:less amniotic fluid
Hi Rupal,
So don't you have any other option because it would be very hard for you to abort the child know.So better ask for any other source if not then you decide what to do.... - Amani [View Message]
