Name: shilpa My son is 5 years 7 months old and he is not able to pronounce \";R\"; instead he pronounce \";L\"; in place of \";R\";(words that starts with \";R\"; are pronounced by him as words starting with \";L\";)....this might be a general problem found. But as he is a school going child and there is no clarity of speech the listeners laugh at him when he says \";L\"; for \";R\";. This is really an embarassing thing for me....as he's very talkative and continues talking makes a fun of himself by not speaking words that starts with \";R\"; correctly.

I need to consult a good speech therapist in mumbai...can anybody give me the good references and contact details.

hi Shilpa,
the prolem is same with my 3.5yr old daughter.infact don't laugh, i had the problem as a kid. the solution my mom reverted to was make me say at least ten words having R everyday and made me repeat it again and agin. slowly she increased the number of words to 15, 20 etc. i applied the same thing with my girl when she was 3 yrs old. slowly and steadily she improved and now says most of the words with R. Infact her name is Rajshree which she wud say as \";lacchi \";when she was small. now she clearly tells her name. do try this once.
