Hi Rekha,

I understand that you have not started on solids yet for your baby. So I would suggest holding off the juices till about 1 month after you start solids. Again as rashpal says, I too started with 50-50 of water and juice and slowly reduced the percentage of water over a period of time.

I started giving my baby veg juice when she was 4 months old and moved on to fruit juice when she was 5 months. She is now 8 months and drinks all kinds of fruit juices (orange, Mausami, water melon, chikku, apple, annar).....

U could try some and c how she reacts...but remember to warm it a bit!

All the best!

I'm not sure where you're from, but in Canada, the doctors are recommending not giving juices to a child until they're about a year or so old. I personally am not giving juice until my son is a lot older since it's mostly just sugar. If you are going to give your baby juice I'd wait longer than 3.5 months - they should still only be taking formula or breastmilk, nothing else. Juice can be hard to digest at that age. And if at a later date you give juice, water it down so it's not 100% juice.

Hi rekha,
I agree with rashpal. The doctors recommend not to give juice atleast till 6 months.the introduction to solid foods is like this first iron fortified cereals from 6months and then vegetables and then comes fruits.and that too it should be cooked.'coz juice is 100% sugar.but u can start on soft cooked apples and peaches.for now breast milk is best for ur baby and less susceptible to all infections.good luck to ur baby.
