hi

my son is 3/12 months old.he has lot of difficulty sleeping becoz he gets up every 5 min in fear.the minute he starts sleeping, his face goes thru a cotinuum of expressions, most of which shows extreme fear.then he starts brathing heavily and cries out loudly in sleep.when he cries,it is inconsolable.even when i try to calm him buy rocking him, hugging him, patting him,he does not get soothed.if he does and he goes back to sleep, the next second, this fear comes back.because of this neither he nor me have any sleep at all and hence he is sleepy and irritable all day. Also he wants to be rocked and lullabied to to go to sleep and i dont know how to get rid of this habit as I have to return to work. All suggestions welcome. Please help!!!!

I feel you should try to play with him a lot. My son (5 months old now) used to get scared in dark so we used to keep our lights on. Secondly we use to make scary sounds and then use to laughs. So now he understands that the scary sounds are just jokes. He used to start crying when anyone sneezed or cough. Now whenever we sneeze or cough we always make eye contact with him and laugh. hope this helps.
I also used to rock my son earlier but I know it takes lot of our time. As I am studying I have to go to college as well as study at home so I started give him pacifier from last few weeks and I no more have to rock him, he sleeps on his own. I know pacifier is not a god habbit but you have to priorities what is important.

good luck to you

Dear priya,
hi! hope by now you must have tried uma\"; suggestion. well tell me the result.
My baby also wud do the same when he was 3. He wud get up scared and then wud not sleep at all. but when he was awake he wud be fine.
asked the doctor. he told me that babies dream a lot and that makes them uncomfortable. so he advised us to break his sleep..that is to wake him up and put him back to sleep by putting some good music, or showing him some bright colors or u playing with him. this requires patience.. may be 3/4 days but certainly it works. it worked for me. try it.

RE:Baby cries while passing urine - Hetal pls advice
At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
