2002-07-12
Name: Anamika MOM

As I have mentioned in my previous post, my nine mth old has sarted crawling. She is addicted to pacifier. PLEEEASE tell me a way to stop becoz she gets out of ctrl if I take her pacifier away. She just takes the pac only during sleeping, but still I want to stop that bad habit. Also She is still on Formula. When should I stop the formula and start cow milk? As I am a stay at home mom, I have built a web site for my daughter Anamika. For those of you who have time, you can check it out at your leisure on

(FUNNY that I have to write it this way since this site doesnt allow to post URLs)

Hello Friend,

I'm also a Stay at Home Mom. :-)

About the pacifier, I would advise you to slowly wean her from it by taking it away once she's asleep at first, then, when she's awake she will realize it isn't there. Eventually, do not give it to her immediately upon bedtime...

Then, if she continues fussing, offer it to her and try again next bedtime.

This is make the transition much easier.

It will possibly take a while if she's anything like my little pumpkin, she loved her \";binky\"; as we called it.

About when to begin cow's milk. Usually, it's at the age of 12 months. I would suggest you ask your Pediatrician just to be sure that you girl is ready.

When giving cow's milk in transition of formula, introduce the milk gradually to make sure you child is accepting it. You want her to ease into the transition smoothly.

What type of formula are you using? If it's like Similac with Iron or Emfamil...or any of the others, or in other words, milk-based, the transition should be easy since the base is still milk. If it's soy based formula, just check and make sure she accepts it, the consistency is different with soy-based, I think.

Anyway; I hope to hear from you...
Good luck!

A Friend,
Nina
