Hi ,
I take 2-3 tsp of nachni powder and 6-8 ounces of water and boil the two for a couple of minutes till it becomes thick consistency. This I make in the morning and keep it in the fridge. When I want to feed my baby thru bottle , I take 3 ounces of the nachi kheer, and add 2-3 ounces of hot water so that the entire mixture comes up a level of around 6 ounces in the bottle. Then i add 5-6 ounces of powder formula and shake it really well. It becomes liquid like consistency.. but to facilitate the flow more thru the bottle nipple , i keep a small fruit eating fork which i occassionally pierce the nipple which makes the milk to come out properly. I donot add any sugar or jaggery to the nachni kheer. Generally I buy nachni seeds and then grind it. Else I buy the powder and soak the required amount in the water for few hours. This will make the 'chilka' to come up and then we can strin the actual powder and boil it with water.
Tell me one thing .. is your baby eating proper solid food ? I mean the ones which u actually have to chew? I have seen in many sites in the net that as ypoung as 7-8 months old babies are eating toasted bread , sandwiches etc! My 9 month old daughter would definitely choke if I give her these ( though she has 3 up front and 2 bottom front teeth.). She will only eat at maximum thick consistency pureed food. Moreover i have to make her lie down at an inclined position ( say 60 degrees angle with the floor ) and only then will she eat because she will never hold up her face to open her mouth to eat! but otherwise she will do it ( i mean look up and all ). She is quite a handful baby
thanks
Durba

Subject:  Feeding schedule of 9 month old

My daughter too is approximately 9 months old. This is her daily feeding schedule : Hope it helps
8.00 am - 5 ounces of formula with nachni .. fed in bottle.
9.00 am - lentil and vegetable soup . I boil any daal like masur or moong and alongwith that I give carrots, potatos, green peas, tomato, pumpkin, spinach and beans. After boiled it I puree it in mixture and add a few drops of lemon juice. It is quite thick in consistency .. almost like cerelac and all. She has around one small bowl full of that ( volume wise it is say 125-140 cc).
10.00 am - Now I give her either suji/ poha/ bread/ a mix powder of chawal, daal, naachni, oats / soyabean + wheat germ powder / wheat daalia - any thing from the list with 5 ounces of formula powder mixed with it. And to it I also give some pureed fruits like mango or pears or apples or papaya. This is also volume wise and consistency wise same as above.
10.15 am - One elaichi banana
12-30 pm- Lunch - Khichri ( rice + daal + all veggies ) or Curd Rice or Milk and Poha ( note that I give this khichri in lunch only if i donot give daal + veg soup earlier . Milk and poha is given in lunch only if she has different thing in breakfast ). Consistency wise same as above , volume wise almost 1.5 times as the 10.00 am breakfast feed.
3.00 pm - Formula milk thru bottle ( 5 ounces approximately )
4.30 pm - same as 9.00 am feed
6.00 pm - same as 10.00 am feed
6.30 pm - one elaichi banana
8.30 /9.00 pm - Dinner - Basically same as lunch.

She is now 8.75 kgs and 77 cm ( > 30 inches ) . She is an active baby . For the last one and a half month she is being able to stand up on her own holding on to the furniture. For the last 15 days she can actually sit up on her own from the lying position. And as for crawling .. she still does not crawl on four .. actually she does the 'Commando creeping '... drags herself along on her tummies with her arms .. though she has started to show some signs of the normal crawling but that is very rare and has started only a couple of days back. Doctor says not to worry about these things much because each baby has her own development speed. She is babbling a lot .. 'pa pa', 'ba ba' , 'ma ma' 'ga ga' , 'da da' etc . But one thing .. mobile that she is nowadays ... we have to very cautious not to leave her alone any where coz .. she might try to stand up and then fall down and hurt her head. thats not good at all!
