Can anyone in India, on this forum, post something about when it is ok to give cow-milk to an infant. I was given diluted cow milk as a 3-month old. Also, please post the formula for preparing it.

Hey Ashish,

yes u r right that in India cows milk is given at 2-3 mths.But in US it is said that cows milk gives allergies to babies if given before 1 yr.Formula needs to b given . Since formula is very close to breastmilk in nutrition.However if ur baby still refuses to take formula,spk to ur ped n start cows milk,n mayb some extra iron supplements.....thanks

Yes Ashish I fully agree with u .Infact the other day i had the same argument with my ped who is also an Indian.The reason given to me was the content of iron in cows milk is lower.However In India it is still given n the babies r equally healthy.SO how old is ur baby ?Have u given cows milk ?

How is a baby in India different from one in the US. Do you know that formula is not a subsitute for breastmilk because scientists have still not figured out the exact composition of breastmilk? So how can anyone claim that formula is good?

I am very skeptical of advice that is filtered through corporate interests and just not knowing enough. What works in India should work here shouldn't it? Especially if you drink organic milk...
