Bowel and Bladder Movements:Treats Potty Like a Toy .. PLEASE Help!

Hi,

My son who will be 2 in May isnt potty trained .. i hv been trying (not very consistently i admit) for past 3 mnths .. he doesnt wear diapers except while going out or at nite
Initially he used to tell me AFTER he had done potty or pee pee but since past 10 days when i hv really become more after him to sit on the potty, he doesnt even tell me after he has done it ... just looks at me guiltily. He treats both the baby potty seat & the seat u affix on the adult seat as toys .. so far he has Not ONCE done either potty or pee in any of them .. i am so frustated .. what am i doing wrong :(

Can anyone share:
1. HOW did the start the process of potty & pee pee training?
2. How long did it take ( i get frustated easily & end up yelling at him which i know is wrong)

PLEASE

Thanks

Nidhi

hi nidhi,

sorry 4 the delay. u know what i just registered today in this website. coming to ur problem, even iam potty training my 28 month old son, rightnow. we really had difficult time going thru this. as iam staying in US, initially i used to make him stand in the bathtub for pee. he was pooping in the diaper.as he was scared to poop in the potty, but this didnt go on for a long time. all of a sudden he stopped peeing in the bathtub. even iam very short tempered. but no use of shouting at him.so we gave him a break. fortunately as per r expectation after 3 or 4 days he started it once again. but this time no bathtub, we made him stand on his stepstool and to pee on the normal adult potty. this break really changed him. dont know how?. but good for him and us. but as nikki has mentioned, be patient for a while.it might change ur little one tooo.
rightnow working on his pooping section. going pretty well.

Dear Nidhi,

You are no alone....my oldest son is 3 years old, and we are going through the same thing. Like you, I bought him the toy potty and the little cushion seat you put on the regular toilet, and he gets his crayons and graffitis all over it. It's like they are another medium for his artwork. He won't sit on it. He's afraid of it for some reason. Read my post titled \";horrible problem\";. I admit that I yell at my son too, but you know what, we're only human, and we have our breaking point too. Try to control yourself, believe me, I try to control myself too. Remember that you are at least trying to teach your child to be potty trained, and that is what a good parent does. I would suggest you take it easy on yourself.

At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]

Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
