iam 22 year old girl,iam studying my post graduation.iam about to visit to tirupati next week.my mother taken a vow to god that if we construct a new house me and my mother gets head shave.iam feeling too nervous to shave my head.iam very fear and shy to shave my head bending before barber and he shaves with a straight razor.when i used to see bald girls i used to laugh inner,now its time to me to shave my head,so please give me some courage to shave my head.and also share your experiences,shaving your heads in tirupati

Hi Swapna,
A vow is a vow and must be fulfilled. Tonsuring the head is a symbolic gesture of humbleness before the lord, since hair is a symbol of pride, it means you give away to the lord what is dear to you and it symbolises humbleness. Your hair will grow back and you can style it the way you want, that's a positive side effect. Also its is healthy for the scalp. Am sure rest apart you will enjoy the whole thing.

I realise it is a difficult vow to fulfil. But I am sure it is going to be OK. You can always use a wig or a cap once you come back if you feel very conscious.
