Hi Ranjita,
You can make khichdi by mixing rice with any of three (Yellow moong dal, Green moong dal or toor dal) dals. I prefer to take equal portion of rice and dal. You can add vegetables like green beans, carrots, green peas, flower and potatoes. Add turmeric powder and salt (Optional cumin seeds or powder) and water. Pressure cook till four whistles. Once its ready I use strainer to make it smooth and add ghee, milk OR yogurt (not sour one). My 9 ½ months old son likes it with yogurt. Besides khichdi you can also try mashed potatoes with cheese. Pressure cook potatoes mash them, add shredded yellow cheddar cheese (optional red chilli powder or black pepper powder) also add little bit of yogurt.
About time interval: I give my son, solid food twice a day (noon and evening), besides that he is on milk. As your son is 1 year old I think you can feed solids three times a day.
