My MIL is same as urs. She complains about my sarees, the colors i choose to wear and even the clothes I choose for my daughter. I will just ignore them. But it irritates me so much and sometimes i will give her a firm reply. What surprises me is, my skin tone is not fair but good. My MIL skintone is kind of near to blak and she says that red and green colors won' t suite for black people. then i said that no green suites me very well and guess what she has sarees with red and green color and she wares them. She tell me to wear light colors. She won' t stop with me she complains about this stuff to my hubby and since he is a mama' s boy he listens to them. I told him that its none of IL' s issue to tell me what to wear and what not to wear just tell them don' t interfere with my personnel things. Also, MIL doesn' t like the jewellery i buy and most of my relatives like my jewellery desings.

Best thing u can do is to try to ignore there comments and just do whatever u want to do. Then MIL will come to know that u r ignoring her. So won' t argue with her about this but just ignore and do things in ur way.

it wud be better if u wud hv explained ur prob a bit in detail...prob is always mil but situation is always diff.
Better stop replying and talk to point to her.If some sugesstions r worth then take them or else just ignore.
Dont take advise from her in kitchen or household matter.start handling on ur own.Only if its very imp like a fest or something then.
Dont discuss about ur gifts/shopping.. just inform if u think u hv to do
U can even tell her that ' u can mng this situation on ur' politely.
Start doing politely and be quiet as much as possible with her.

Just tell her to back off and mind her own business... do not give her proper answers and hopefully she will get the message.

I feel that my husbands parents are using their son. My husband is from India and I am from the USA. He obtained his greencard and citizenship through me after coming here. He is a physician and obtained his residency training. I worked to earn for our family for two years until he got his job. Then he applied for his parents to visit us on a visiting visa. RE:self centered inlaws
I agree they have completely double standards as I recently found out. I saw my husbands childhood photos when he was young. His parents claim they sacrificed everything for their kids and lived poor and behave like martyr parents. Got treated as free domestic servant. But the photos showed them dressed like Bollywood stars with watches and jewellery enjoying their life. O... - Tina [View Message]

RE:Mother-in-law spoiling my child
hello kajal,
if you are rudely talking with her, then this is not way to talking with your mother in law, you tell her in polite way, your son is her grand son, so she never think about his bad effects.... - ruchita [View Message]
