Bowel and Bladder Movements:Constipation for 18 month old

Hi,
My 1yr 7months daughter is having problems with hard stool. She sits down / or tell somebody carry her when she feels peristalsis. We feed whatever is made @ home for bkfst & lunch. She takes rice, butter, vegetables like carrot beans etc for lunch. And fruits (banana), shakes or juices in the evening time (orrange, apple). Recently she stopped accepting breast milk on her own(Her doc was surprised to hear that !!). Her activities are normal but bit slow in talking, though she understands everything. Her Ped has given luctulose, but discouraged us to use it. We dont give her any laxative / soppositories.
Any suggestions for food/friuts that nakes soft stools ?

Hey

First watch her water intake.
And dont give apple as whole it agreagate constipation ,but apple juice is best and also prunes, soak in water an take juice and till becomes normal give her 2 times and also make sure that she takes fibre content food.
Main thing is her water content.apple juice is good since the sugar content is more in that and sugar is good in softening stool, hence apple juice and prune juice will do the magic for ur daughter

try an Apple. Apple is the best to avoid constipation. Also if u believe in Ayurveda, U can give her BALHIRDA paste in water. U can get it in any Ayurvedic medicine store.Good luck.

Hi

Try soaking black dry raisins overnight in hot water and strain and give juice - I soak about 8- 9 for my 10 month old. Also I heard peaches and papaya help in softening stools

At the same time the child is feeling some pain So try to understand and consult a doctor.... - sharmasanvi [View Message]
RE:bowel movement in 2 week old infant
Some babies go through phases when they either can't use the muscles to empty their bowels or they "forget how to". In that case, it's safest keep using the suppositories daily to make them do a dirty in 5 minutes.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:where can I get laxative?
You can get either glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories in any Indian pharmacy - I recommend saving money by not buying child-size ones, instead cutting adult supps in half to make a child-size dosage.
(I have a daughter with long-term bowel issues: she can't "do" without them!)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:constipation
When the baby is in discomfort from constipation (especially if she hasn't done some dirty for two days or more), the first thing you should give is a glycerin suppository.... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:hi
Most doctors say banana doesn't help - the potassium in it makes constipation worse. Remember you can make your own prune puree in a blender. Grape, grapefruit and papaya are also laxative fruits. And remember you can safely use baby suppositories as often as you need to (they also help with "training" the baby to do a dirty at the same time every day)... - Su 03 [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Consult a good doctor immediately as this should not be ignored as it will cause a big issue if you let it go now, please seek doctors advice on immediate basis.... - Aditi [View Message]
RE:Baby Movements/Development
Hi there please be calm and relax as it happens sometime the child takes little time to start walking or crawling also but in your case the child should have started crawling if not walking.... - Anita [View Message]
