what is the use to take progestoron tabs for getting pregnency, is any one knows abt this, bcz my doctor gave this tabs to use 14th day of my periods for 10 days.

Progesterone is a hormone that is secreted in the second half of the menstrual cycle. If pregnancy does not occur the progesterone will decrease. It has several roles, one of them being it increases the body temperature after ovulation.
After menses your body temeperature is slightly low but when you ovulate the temperature goes up by o.2-0.6 degree or even by 1.0 degree. When one conceives the temperature continues to stay up, if not the temperature goes down and your body gets ready for the next menses. The way I think about it is that for a chicken to hatch from its egg, the fertilized egg needs to be incubated at a suitable temperature. If not the the egg does not hatch. The principle is the same.The doctors gives progesterone to assist the body maintain the increased body temperature to prevent miscarriage, until the placenta starts producing on its own progesterone.
