Trying since long:T.B.! confused help Archie?

My hubby has count of 26 million/cc and motility of 30% with 8-10 pus cells.I am unable to concieve after 2 years. The urologist advised us I.U.I as he said that there is not much chance of imrovemnet in his count and motility. We went to an infertility clinic for i.u.i ,the doctor asked him to go for test of Elisa fro T.B. which came out positive. The doctor said that he have to go 6-8 months of treatment of t.B. and then only we can proceed to i.u.i.We went to the urologist for suggestion ,he saud that there is no value of this test as it is not a confirmatory test of T.B. and monotox test for T.B. is negative for him so he do not require any medicine and we can go for i.u.i.We also consulted a lung specialist he too said that he does not have T.B. I am confused please tell me what does test of Elisa for T.B. means and are there any treatment availble for my hubby to increase count and motility.

Dear Anie,
Sorry to say that I am not aware of Elisa test for TB although I know what is Elisa and why it is done, I have never however heard of combining that test for bacterial infection such as TB.

If your have had pulmonologist intervention and he has foot down with his statement that your spouse has not TB then likely he is not having anything that concerns TB.

True that pus cells in semen or urine is sign of laten or active bacterial infection. When infection exist so that that be latent or active it's not fair one to say go ahead and try for baby so that be Natural way or IUI or IVF, the fact is the products of bacteria in the sample may affect motility and viability of sperms. May be I am adding to your confusion that suggesting or clearing your doubts. However to educate you with my knowledge is important for me regardless it helps to clear doubt or add to confusion.

I think your spouse suffers badly with motility trouble. I do not know where you live. If you live in US then give him some Argenine and selenite suppliments. Make him drink coffee (black) an hour before intercourse or IUI trial, whichever you choose to go ahead with.

About sperm count, he can improve sperm count so to boost chances of getting you pregnant. Remember sperm count is a vague term and normal sperm count doesn't assure the success always. It only means by number it's normal it has to be considered in full that structure (abnormalities) of the sperm, motility of the sperm along with count and here your spouse seems suffer from motility and my guess is with pus cells he must be suffering from some structural abnormalities in some motile sperms.

To get pregnant and lead to full term pregnancy a healthy sperm is most important.

I would suggest him to work on his hygine, clean his glance while shower/bath, twice a day. Take bath/shower with lukewarm or preferably cold water no hot water.
Wear loose and cotton undergarments.
No scents in pubic area
If you can get then give him Himalaya product named, Speman (it's available in India). Treat with Speman for at least 3-4 months before going for IUI or natural trial.

I don't think at this stage I would receommend even IUI. I would first work on his sperm improvement, get urologist convinced to treat him, it's treatable and see after a few months what progress does he makes and choose there after.
