Feeding:Feeding my One Year Old

Name: Mom

I have a one year old daughter, and all of a sudden she is troubling a lot to eat. She drinks milk around 4 am in the morning and wakes up between 7:00 am and 7:15 I try to feed her breakfast around 8:15, she is refusing to eat. I tried idli, Dosa, Ragi with milk and sugar she is not interested in anything, since I have to go to work I try to give her breakfast and leave and it is becoming a big problem. She also needs to be really hungry to eat her lunch (Rice and Daal with a vegetable) and when she is half full she refuses to eat. Feeding her is becoming a big problem. She plays all the time and is not hungry. She is walking/running all over and plays whole day and is a very active girl.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of feeding a 1 yr old. Also any new dishes that I can try for her breakfast, lunch or snacks.

Iam having a similar problem with my one year old to where he was eating very well to hardly nothing like 4 bits of this and 4 bits of that. and spitting food out (very agravating) he has a gaging thing going on so foods that are very hard are out of the qwestion unless i mush it up a little so i started using my imagination. one of his FAVORITES is I call it MASCAL. its very good and he always eats the hole thing about 4 big potatoes and fresh head of califlower (taking off the bottem only the tree parts get rid of the rest) and 1 carrot,1/2 cup of milk cream cheese, sour cream salt pepper garlic powder. thats it! boil vegggies that includes potato then mash, then put in all the other ingerdients and mix with blender till FIRM NOT RUNNY and wala. remember you could substitute any of the veggies i used for any other. this meal is GREAT for our growing Children and even our older kids like my 11 year old he has no idea what i put into it and he eats it up.

I have the same problem with my one year old boy. he eats but not much, four five spoons at a time. i am also working and it is tough to deal with such conditions. I give him fresh apple banana pulp and oat cereal with pieces of crakers in breakfast. Roti and dal in lunch , cheese slice and mashed potato, brocolli, pear as snacks.he is fine with \";kichdi\"; and yougrt or pasta sometimes as a lunch.
i also give him row vegetables strips while i cook in kitchen, it is a good time pass for him.
hope this helps.

Hi, I can understand your concern but the problem is all kids at one time become bore with their routine. Childeren speciall small need changes ( not in their diet items) but in presentation, try buying some new cups and plates (kids material in dark colors) to keep her attention.

My son is just like your daughter, you know what I do to feed him, I tell him his mouth is a airport and I take a bite in my hand saying \";Here comes the plane and lands on the airport (his mouth)\";. It is funny but that's the way childeren are. Since you are working you might not have that time, try telling your maid or who ever is helping you to invent new ideas to keep her attention on food. For my son I make chapatis in the shape of animals, one day he wants to eat elephent, one day a snake. Make shapes figures anything to make your child interested in the food.

That's is the only way I can suggest, for recipies you can try searching them on net.....I hope this works for you....Take care and give my love to your daughter......Neetu
