Working Mother:Wise ones, please advise..

Name: pam

I live in the US with my husband and a 2 yr old son. I have been working past 5 yrs. I am not too ambitious but I like the financial freedom it gives me. My husbands earns pretty well but keeps a tight check on the money spent, even my money (we have joint accounts), which I am fine with. He doesn' t mind my spending but likes to know where each dollar is going. Once in a while I like to help out my parents who are not very well to do. Of course they don’t accept anything finanacially but materially I try to do as much as I can and my husband will reasonable allow. Although he does not really approve of that but can’t say much as it’s my money too. I have a younger sister who is marrying age. I have told my parents and as well as my husband that I would like to contribute to her marriage expenses to some extent. He has not expressed any opnion about that.
Now my husband wants to take an overseas job, which will mean me giving up my job. I don’t mind that as I have been thinking of becoming a full time mom as well. But I will have to think 5 times before I spend on anything and especially on my parents. I have already agreed to the shifting but how should I deal with the situation if I want to buy something for my parents or support them financially after few years. Should I ask my husband that he should give me monthly something, that I can spend however I like, no questions asked??? Please give some advises.

You have been earning for last 5 years and that also abroad so you must have by now earned a substantial sum for urselves and also if you leave the current job you may get compension or your pending dues also from the company. this money will definitely help you for your parents as it will be in dollars and when you convert in Indian rupees that will be a substantial sum. this money and the money you have earned all these 5 yrs can be utilised for sisters wedding. also even if your husband is changing job you can also try to work overseas- other place or try working from home instead of a housewife.

you can convince your hubby that as he is earning substantial money you will not have any financial problems in future so it will be good and helpful if you help in your sisters wedding and his inlaws will praise him the whole life if he does that.

so he will ultimately get their blessings and he may agree.

i dont know if this suggestion is worth but neways. pls inform me what was the ultimate outcome of your situation.
