Dear archie,
I request ur suggestion for my condition,Please do reply me-please.I've been trying to get pregnant for about 1 year.since i've irregular periods(cycle 50-75) and i had my last 3 periods a lengthy one which lasted for about 20 days,i went to the fertility dr.I did all the bloodtests(normal) and pcos test-which she said that i'm insulin insensitive and prescribed me to take glucophage(metformin)starting from 500mg thereby increasing to 1500mg
and to take clomid after i've my periods which she instructed to induce by aygestin(10mg for 5 days) .I cud not get more knowledge about it from her & she insisted me to go as she says.As i'm new to this area & no other doctor i know,I wanted to know what is insulin insensitive & is there any procedure other than metformin for it & how is it recognized by which level?.Is there any side effects if i use the above drug.Please help me-please............

Don't worry about treatment I don't see anything to worry about. Yes, with such a long cycles you must induce your period with Aygestin, Progesterone based pill. It has side effects but any hormone based pill will have side effects so don't worry.
Also Metformin combined with Clomid has prooven to bring success I would suggest you to be tension free and try with your Drs. suggestion.

About insulin insensitivity, it's a term in which your body does not respond to natural insulin produced by body itself and display high sugar level, type of non-insulin dependent diabetes, or type 2 diabetes. Usually it's common for people who are overweight and in these individuals condition is likely to get controlled by itself when person looses some weight. I am not sure if you are overweight. If you are not overweight then why you have this condition is something I can't know!
