Behavioural Problems:coy at 5?

Name: vana g My daughter is a very active and intelligent 5 yr old girl. She makes friends easily with kids of any age-group. Recently I have noticed that sometimes she seems aware of being a \";girl\"; and is \";shy\"; around boys. Her behaviour is almost coy - lowered eyes etc. At these times i tend to tell her not to start \";acting up\"; but she just ignores me.Since she is not exposed to films/serials nor older girls I am wondering why/how this behaviour has sharted. Should i be concerned or is this normal at this age

Dear Vana
Though every child is different, usually at age 5, children are not \";coy\"; or shy around the opposite sex. Or at least not to the extent that they are as pre-teens/teenagers. However, what you have described as being \";coy\"; could just be a general shyness. It would help if you provided more details such as if your daughter is shy in general, or around strangers.
As far as I see it there is not reason to be overly concerned.

Thankyou Sejal for responding. To answer u, no my daughter is not shy at all with strangers. However, I can see now that I was probably over-reacting -just posting the msg on the net helped me see that!!!
