Developmental Concerns:Concerned about repetitive behavior

I have twin boys born premature at 28 weeks. So far they have been almost on target for their development milestones. They did walk a little late around 13 months. But my main concern is that they love spinning wheels. They spin anything that they could. One of the boys would lie down with his car and watch the wheels go round. Otherwise they are quite active boys and have great eye contcat. They love to hug and smile and are quite social too. I started day care for them like a month back and they love spinning wheels even there. I am not sure if this is Autism and if there is something else going on. I did talk with my pediatrician and he does not seem to be concerned since the boys are quite social. The boys are 2 years and 3 months and they are still not making sentences. They have a lot of words though.
Thanks so much for your time.
Best Regards,
K.

Dear Parent
Your concern is valid so is your anxiety primafacia it dosent seem your Boys have a prob how ever for your better understanding here is a watcher:

Autism is a neurological disorder that affects a child' s ability to communicate, understand language, disseminate the world surrounding them and relate to people. Autistic children do not play well with others, fail to handle changes in their routine and seem distant to family members including the mother and father.

There are specific warning signs for children who are only a year old. If the child does not babble or coo, point, wave, or grasp at objects, there should be concern and a doctor' s visit is advisable

Children who are 16 months old and do not repeat single words, is a possible warning sign. Children who are two years old and have not repeated two-word phrases on their own, is a concern but in your case repeating a act is your concern pplay with your child other mental simulative games to see his cognition.

As a parent what can ease your anxiety and the situation is a more experiential approach. looking at the kids every time with a investigative or analyticity mind is not advisable . furthermore meet a specialist to put your doubts to rest permanently

Happy Parenting

Hi,

Do they play with other toys appropriately?I mean ball..throwing..catching..kicking.stacking rings, building tower with blocks,..if they do then no worry.are they copying you..like acting like you combing hair, putting on shoes..things like that.then they are fine..a little language delay is common in preterm babies.theta will catch up by 3 yrs.try showing them how to play with cars..like rolling, pushing on ground and see if they will imitate.

kids fitness through play and games
since i have been training young kids for motor skills and fun fitness for a while i see that kids develop most of their sports movements then and as early as 4 years. parents need to be aware that forcing kids into sports at a very early age will not get them far, as they end up losing interest quickly. ... - Sunny Singh [View Message]
