Due Date Club December 2005:Seeking advice on food

Hi,

I found this site only yday and this looks very interesting. I'm in my 11th week now and this is my second pregnancy. I feel like eating kara and sour foods. But, my mother-in-law always cooks less spicy food. So, finally i end up taking more pickle like priya, mothers, etc. and chips. After reading that MSG in maggi noodles, now i'm worrying about pickles. Does pickles also has this content?? I'm trying to avoid to my level best. But, sometimes, i eat them. Is it good to avoid that too?? I dint had this much spicy food during my first pregnancy.

Looking for your advice.

Hi Nivi,

hope it is ok to call u by that short name!! anyhow, try to eat pickles in moderation. spicy foods have lot of salt levels. salt absorbs water and hence reduces the water content in ur body. water is important as it is necessary for amniotic fluid. if u have pickles, compensate by having more fluids, water, milk, juice etc. it is ok to have like a little bit with food once or twice a day. that is what i do. anyhow, right now i am trying ginger ale for my evening sickness. i cannot seem to like anything.. i am also in my 2nd one and the first time i was able to eat without much nausea. u can have a chart u know and set timings for ur \";craving\"; foods. eg. u can snack on ur craving foods, maybe have some banana chips or potato chips etc. and follow with a glass of milk or juice. try it... and see if it works. bye!

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
