Thanks for your reply. I have had a miscarriage before but I bled that tiem so knew there was a problem. I had never heard of this before and on doing some research am thinking it could be a blighted ovum. They didn't do any blood tests which I thought when I came home and thought about it. My periods have onlybeen irregular since the birth of my last child. They are not very bad but I used to be able to set my clock by them at one point. Do you have any knowledge on the blighted ovum and do you think a fetal pole should be visible by 6 weeks?

Dear Dena,
be positive that's all I could tell you.
Sure I know about Blighted ovum, but difficult to predict as you have no blood work. If that blood was done with 48 hours gap and the values were clear then I could have told with confidence about blighted ovum.
The fact your periods are irregular may be you will get to see fetal pole a little late. Typically it appears in 5th week or in 6th week but I know some cases where it did not show up on right time and on subsequent visit, spaced in a week or 10 days the things were there and all was normal.
Although a possibility of blighted ovum resembles to lack of fetal pole at completion of 6th week still I would not suggest you to think on that mainly because each pregnancy is different and things can be fine in your case. Also you have no blood work to suggest.
It's important that you don't get stressed out.

If you don't have spotting and abdominal cramps I would suggest to treat well take rest and see what happens in one or two weeks.

Archie

Thank you for your lovely email. On looking at the record of my visit yesterday they did not see a yolk sac and apparently there were two tiny sacs other than the normal sac present. I have no idea what this means.

You are a great person and I see that you offer lots of help and support.

Keep up the great work.

Love
Dena

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
