hi everyone out there and to archie,
i hope u all remember me.i am the one who is trying to conceive 2nd child since last 7 cycles.my age is 33 and i have a 8 1/2 yrs old son.i got my last period on 31st dec.2004.every cycle have hope as i had conceived my 1st child without any problem,infact it was unplanned pregnancy and absoulutely normal.so it i thought this one also as soon as we will have unprotected sex i will be pregnant but i was wrong.
now my question is this cycle that is yesterday i went to gynac for 1st time(she is new to me)as when i delivered my son i was in india and now i am in dubai,she told me incase u get ur periods this time again which i think i will get though i did sex on all my fertile days like every month,then she will do scanning and see in next cycle whether my ovulation proccess is taking place and whether egg is releasing and those 2-3 days i can do sex.now what is this scanning what will she do?she said then we will see of some medicines depending on that.she has called me on 8th or 9th day after i get my periods.i am little bit nervous,hope everything is fine.

Sorry to hear your trouble and also for delay from my side.

Trying for 7 months or one year for second child is not drastically strange or crisis at all. The conceiving process can be easier in subsequent pregnancies for some girls but not in all cases. Besides your age is 33, anytime after 30 the fertility start to decline, that varies from girl to girl. This does not mean you are infertile or will face trouble to get pregnant. It only means one has to harbor some patience and go through at least 12 cycles before getting worried as to why am I not getting success!

Your cycles are within limits although not exactly of same length. This may pose a little difficulty on judging on which is your fertile day(s). Your fertile days vary by 2-4 days in each cycle. In some cyle you could get pregnant with intercourse right on the CD6 or CD10. If you experience periods then do as follows,

Forget that you are ttc (means sway your stress out) and make sure your spouse forget this as well and enjoy your intimate moments.

Intercourse once a 24 hours and starting CD6 up to CD14, no more intercourse.

If possible as your husband to keep keep out of any masturbation at least a week before you guys have intercourse.

His sperm count can be different from the time he got you pregnant with your first boy. So is your fertility, understand and accept this part.

Try not to wear any scents or any tight synthetic garments, your husband can wear cotton Katccha (short that's loose)for one week before you try for intercourse. Also he can have shower with not too hot water, keep out of hot stuff.

What your Dr. suggested is really nice one. The scaning she mentioned is in short called HSG. Or she just want to do an ultrasound to view your tubes and ovulation pattern. In either way they are of great help. Go ahead and get the scanning done. HSG is one in which she will insert dye in your tubes and this will increase chances of conceiving in later cycles. Normal ultrasound will tell as to if you are ovulated or ovulating.
In my opinion you should see her on CD7 not on CD9. Mainly because if your cycle is going to be of 24 days then you will get an idea that in about 36-48 hours you are going to ouvlate on CD7. If that's done on CD9 perhaps you are already surpassed ovualtion stage.

I'm also sailing in the same boat. Trying for the second child for last 6 months without success as my periods are irregular it's very hard for me to know the fertile days. So, did your doc told you that by scanning we can know whether the egg is released or not ?
Do you get regular periods ?
Don't feel nervous about scanning it's not hard. I'm not expert like Archie, but I feel that your doc is aheading in right direction.
